5D/4N
The name Choquequirao means “cradle of gold” and is located by the Apurímac River and is surrounded by beautiful glaciers, high peaks, and amazing snow-capped mountains. Choquequirao is known for being the lost city of the Incas and is rarely visited by tourists.
The archaeological center of Choquequirao is the brother of the citadel of Machu Picchu, as they have similar architecture and designs. This was the last Inca refuge that continued to resist the Spanish.
On this route we will have a full day to visit the archaeological center of Choquequirao and explore everything that is inside it. On this adventure we will walk along long paths that the Incas traveled, we will cross cloud forest ecosystems and we will also observe native animals, flora and fauna of the area.

Our guide will explain the history and importance of this archaeological site, which is also considered a sister city of Machu Picchu, since there are several similarities. Choquequirao hangs 1,500 meters above the Apurimac Canyon. Machu Picchu hangs over the Urubamba Canyon. They are at the same latitude and is considered one of the main cities of the Inca era, Choquequirao with more than 8 hectares, where only a third has been discovered and where every day archaeologists find something more interesting. This day we will observe and get to know the three levels of the ruins found, where we will be able to appreciate the urban sector, agricultural terraces and the religious sector of this Inca City. We will also have great opportunities to appreciate the flight of the Condor. After visiting Choquequirao we will return to our camp to have tea time and a delicious dinner.
At dawn, we can see the sunrise over the Inca ruins and our campsite. After a good breakfast, we will begin to descend in the same way we ascended, until we reach our campsite in Chiquisca.
